Perhaps some of the worst collisions or car accidents to hear about would be those that involved a child. Anytime a young person loses their life, we all mourn the death of someone who had so much life yet to live. A case like this recently happened in Las Vegas. On April 23, around two in the afternoon, a single vehicle collision took the life of 19 year old Alexander Kuckenbecker.
According to police reports, the teenager was traveling down Charleston Boulevard, close to the entrance for Home Depot when he lost control of his 1992 BMW 318i and hit a light pole. The car spun out of control and hit the pole on the passenger side with such force that the car broke in two. Kuckenbecker was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Both lanes of Charleston Boulevard were shut down as police investigated the accident and so that cleanup could ensue.
At this time, the accident is still being investigated, but witnesses state that the BMW was traveling at a high rate of speed and it is believed that the teenager lost control of the car for that reason. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
It seems as if this is a cut and dried case. The teenager was driving too fast, and as a result, he could not control his car. However, we do not know all of the details and the accident is still under investigation. If the Kuckenbecker teen is at fault, then there is little that the surviving family can do.
However, if there is anything found during the investigation that would indicate something else was at fault, then this could change things. For example, if there was a malfunction with the vehicle or the tires, then the manufacturer, maintenance team, or installers could be held responsible. This does happen from time to time, and in those cases, a malfunction could lead to an accident and that would mean a civil suit. If there was anything along these lines involved in the accident we described above, then the surviving family of the teen could seek compensation for wrongful death. Again, there is no way to know if this is an option at this time. No matter what, it would make sense for the surviving family to seek the advice of an attorney who is familiar with wrongful death cases.
If you have lost a loved one in a vehicle accident and you believe that someone or something else is responsible for the accident, then you need to seek an attorney as soon as possible. Choose legal representation from Las Vegas, as they will have the most knowledge of personal injury laws. Additionally, consider choosing an attorney who deals with wrongful death and auto accidents specifically. That way, you can know for certain that they will understand the law thoroughly and that they will be able to look after your rights and help you seek compensation for the loss of your loved one.
