At 7 p.m. May 9, Hope For the City – a group of Las Vegas individuals, businesses, charities and non-profit organizations will come together in spirit to raise awareness of the plight of people in our communities, who don’t have enough food to feed themselves and their families.
The celebration, hosted by Giuliana Rancic and Chris Harrison, will be shown on ABC 13 and will feature well-known artists, sports personalities, celebrities from across the entertainment spectrum and public figures. Some of these luminaries are resident in, or hail from Las Vegas, while others are pledging their support from elsewhere, for a great cause. The Las Vegas Raiders, Lil Jon, Dee Jay Silver, Carrot Top and many others are in the line up for the event.
In the wake of COVID-19, and despite tremendous community efforts, thousands of people still don’t have enough to eat and are suffering under the immense stress of not being able to provide for their loved ones.
Hope For the City aims to raise money to provide food to those in the greatest need and to show solidarity for their struggle. Every dollar is put to work to feed people who have seen their livelihood and financial security vanish virtually overnight.
Government-approved food pantries and drive-thru collections operate through the week, and since the onset of the pandemic, the organization has stepped up to provide medical personnel, first responders, and elderly and immune-compromised residents with physical-distanced food deliveries at home.
To date, Hope for the City has provided food to 50,796 households. Just $35.00 feeds a family of four for a whole week. If you want to register for assistance, or donate some time or money, then visit Hope For the City and check out how you can help.
Every single act of altruism we make now is a building block to a better, stronger, more hopeful future for all of us. Hope For the City and a Night of Hope represents everything we all need to be channeling right now. Gratitude, kindness, practical help and most profoundly, hope itself.
